He fought for the cause of the proletariat, shouted against Nazi barbarism, sang about life in exile and wrestled with the cultural policy of the GDR. The musical sounds he found for all of this have stood the test of time.
His songs in particular are still played by many today. On the 60th anniversary of his death on September 6th, the latest and most beautiful arrangements of Hanns Eisler’s music will be heard.
