Emotional appeal Henk Bleker to farmer arsonists: ‘Stop this!’ | Inland

Burning hay, manure and other obstacles not only mean significant delays on highways for ordinary citizens, but also dangerous situations. “This must stop immediately,” said the former CDA minister from his holiday address in the Alps. Moreover, it does not help public support for the actions, which he considers justified, against the ‘unfair and ramshackle’ nitrogen policy.

But Bleker immediately adds: ,,I am also sick of playing hide-and-seek and the word games of this cabinet.” The letter that mediator Johan Remkes had delivered to agricultural organizations on Tuesday only increased the frustration and anger, Bleker believes. This means that the Rutte cabinet itself is partly to blame for the current untenable situation.

Taboos

“Stop the word games. Now Remkes says again that there would be no taboos, while Prime Minister Rutte previously stated that he did not want to change the policy. Just say what it means: is this cabinet prepared to reconsider the main points of the nitrogen policy that has been adopted, yes or no? Farmers are really done with this Hague scheming and the plays. And I.”

The largest agricultural interest organization, LTO Nederland, immediately thanked VVD for a meeting with VVD celebrity Remkes on Tuesday. Rutte’s oil men cannot indicate whether the cabinet is prepared to change the deadline of 2030 that has been brought forward for achieving all kinds of nitrogen targets. It is also unclear whether Minister Van der Wal finally wants to give the agricultural innovative power space instead of focusing on purchases and expropriation.

Bleker: ,,I say to this cabinet: stop ducking. Come back from vacation, because the place is on fire. If Remkes calls me today, I can be in The Hague tonight. But I expect the same sense of urgency among ministers.” LTO chairman Sjaak van der Tak also called on farmers this morning not to exceed legal limits with their actions.
