Emotion Coach, Gold Escapes at the Last Second, Indonesia Loses?

KOMPAS.com – Drama and controversy colored the final martial arts SEA Games 2021 fighting discipline which will be participated by two Indonesian athletes on Monday (16/5/2022).

The two Indonesian athletes are Khoirudin Mustakim who dropped in the men’s 50-55kg class and Muhamad Yachser Arafa (50-60 kg male).

Mustakim and Yachser Arafa had to accept the harsh reality after losing the gold medal in the final seconds of the match.

Khoirudin Mustakim competed first against Malaysian wrestler, Muhammad Khairi Adib Azhar, in the men’s 50-5kg class final.

Competing at Bac Tu Liem Sport Center, Hanoi, Vietnam, Khoirudin Mustakim appeared very aggressive from the start of the match.

Khoirudin Mustakim, who had suffered a knee injury, managed to take a 59-50 lead when the match had less than 10 seconds left.

These advantages certainly make Mustakim a big chance to get a gold medal.

However, Khoirudin Mustakim made a mistake in the final seconds of the third round after his right foot shot landed on the neck or face (restricted area) of Khairi Adib Azhar.

Khoirudin Mustakim’s kick immediately made Khairi Adib Azhar lie down and had to be treated by medical officers.
