Emmy 2022: cultural moments and historical moments

The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards announcement contest, which aired Monday night on NBC, was characterized by historic cultural moments and achievements, despite a remarkably low viewership.

The series “Saxation”, produced by HBO, won the award for Best Drama Series at the 2022 Emmy Awards Monday night for the fourth time. The series was nominated in 25 categories, and for three other awards, including: Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Role (for Matthew MacFadden), making him the most nominated this year.

The series presents the story of the family of Logan Roy, who is the president of the largest media company in the world, and describes the family conflicts between his children as they compete to succeed him.

For the first time, ethnic minorities win major prizes

Korean actor Lee Jong Jae won the Best Lead Actor award for the “Squid Game” series, and this is the first time an Asian actor has won this award, especially for a language other than English.

Zendaya won Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role as a teen drug addict in HBO’s Euphoria, becoming the first black actress to win Best Actress twice.

Sheryl Lee Ralph received the Best Supporting Actress award for “Abbot Elementary,” becoming the first black actress to receive the award in three decades.

Apple TV advances at the forefront

Apple TV has climbed the ladder of accolades and awards significantly, with the production network taking a historic win for Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards.

At the Emmy Awards, “Ted Lasso,” an Apple TV comedy series, won the Best Comedy Series award for the second consecutive time. Jason Sudeikis, the lead actor of the series, also won the Best Actor award for the second consecutive time.

Sudeikis plays an American football manager who has an unexpected assignment on a British football team.
