In the middle of the night, two white men kidnap the black teenager Emmett Till in the middle of nowhere in the US state of Mississippi. His body was found three days later and the 14-year-old was brutally mistreated and lynched. In addition to the crime, the subsequent trial of the perpetrators also became a symbol of open racism in the mid-1950s in the southern United States.
