Die Emmental Insurance Arena (Own spelling: emmental insurance arena) is an ice rink in the Swiss municipality of Langnau im Emmental, canton of Bern. It was completed in 1975. It serves as a venue for the SCL Tigers ice hockey club, which, with a total of 6,050 seats, was the second smallest ice rink of all National League clubs. It owes its original name to the river Ilfis, which is close to the stadium.
Today’s Emmental Versicherung Arena was created from the Langnau artificial ice rink, which was built in 1959. In 1975 the stadium was covered and named Ilfishalle. In 2012 the former Ilfishalle was extensively renovated. The capacity decreased from 6,300 to 6,050 spectators.[1] In total, this construction project cost more than 33 million CHF.
Since March 2023, the facility has been supplemented by an extension with a second ice rink, an athletic area and catering rooms right next to the hall. The ice rink has had this name since September 2nd of the year Emmental Insurance Arenaaccording to Emmental Insurance from Konolfingen.[2]
The SCL Tigers have strong roots in the Emmental population. The average attendance is around 5,600 spectators per game.
