The constituency assembly was chaired by the district chairman and member of the European Parliament, Andreas Schwab.
The only applicant was the chairman of the CDU district association Emmendingen, Yannick Bury.
In the subsequent election, Yannick Bury was elected by the 90 eligible voters present with 98.9% of the vote and is now running for the Emmendingen-Lahr constituency in the next federal election.
“We are about to set the course that will decide what role Germany and Europe will still play in the world at the end of the decade,” said Yannick Bury in his introductory speech. Especially at this time, a CDU is needed that on the one hand leads the country safely through the pandemic, but at the same time makes it fit for the new decade. “I don’t just want to go back to the time before Corona, but also work to ensure that we get better and move forward on the way out of the crisis,” Bury continued.
This also applies to the constituency. In addition to the expansion of the A5 and the Rhine Valley Railway, Bury sees relief for the Lahr districts of Kuhbach and Reichenbach and the Teningen district of Köndringen as well as the implementation of the bypasses for Haslach and Kippenheim as central projects for the region. “But infrastructure no longer ends with road and rail,” says Bury. That is why the gaps in broadband coverage must urgently be closed. A powerful digital infrastructure is a prerequisite for our region to remain competitive in the future.
The constituency 283 Emmendingen-Lahr includes the district of Emmendingen and from the Ortenau district the communities Ettenheim, Fischerbach, Friesenheim, Haslach im Kinzigtal, Hofstetten, Kappel-Grafenhausen, Kippenheim, Lahr / Black Forest, Mahlberg, Meißenheim, Mühlenbach, Ringsheim, Rust, Schuttertal, Schwanau, Seelbach and Steinach.
