Dear reader!
“it is a cross” – a figure of speech; we have a cross, seen anatomically; at the center of the Christian religion: a crucified man. The symbol of the cross: It stands for the bulky, disgusting, absurd – and for the connection between heaven and earth in the vertical, for something like a big hug in the horizontal.
The terrible things in our world, violence, war, terror, hunger, illness, pain, suffering – all of this comes together in the Crucified. And at the same time, this cross can become a comfort and a source of strength: the divine secret is hidden in it, God is profoundly present. The many death struggles, the small and large wars, the devastation of the earth: They may come to an end and lead to a reconciliation to which we can contribute in our lives, but which ultimately exceeds our human possibilities. With this in mind: Let yourself be given presents, let yourself be lifted up, celebrate Easter. That’s what yours want
