(clw). The work of the stroke unit at the district hospital in Emmendingen was again successfully certified. Stroke stations that work according to defined quality guidelines are awarded the TÜV Rheinland certificate. The certificate is valid for three years and confirms the qualified care of stroke patients.

“The care of stroke patients is a complex team effort,” said Dr. Robert Kaufmann, neurological director of the stroke unit. Interprofessional cooperation between all professional groups involved in the care of stroke patients is therefore a basic requirement. The thanks for the work done in the preparation of the certification and in the daily work therefore went to all professional groups: In addition to the doctors, the commitment of the nursing staff as well as the work of the therapists and the social service was particularly emphasized. External cooperation partners such as resident neurologists and therapeutic practices in the district also contribute to the success of the stroke unit, as does the successful and important cooperation with the Neurological University Clinic Freiburg in the context of teleneurological care and in the Interdisciplinary Stroke Network Southwest (INVAS), which is next to the district hospital Emmendingen and the University Hospital Freiburg 14 other clinics.

“As the only stroke unit in the district, we are proud of this certification,” says Elisabeth Vario, the managing director of the Emmendingen district hospital. With the certified “Stroke Unit”, the district hospital plays a pioneering role between Lahr and Freiburg in the care of stroke patients.
