Emmaus Community of Fontaine Notre Dame Celebrates 40 Years and Launches Recycling Company, ‘Recycle’

The year was prosperous for the Emmaus community of Fontaine Notre Dame. It has just celebrated its 40 years of presence in the town and has just launched Recycle, an integration company. The purpose of this recycling center is simple: to bring discarded objects back to life while encouraging people to return to work.

The team of Recycle is made up of five employees and a technical supervisor. “This allowed them to sign a CDDI (fixed-term integration contract)“, says Romain Beaumont, director of the Emmaüs community.

Within Emmaüs, the employees have already opened their store, filled with various objects of all kinds: books, crockery, decorative objects, board games… The choice is important. To recover them — and before renovating what is possible — the Emmaüs community has installed containers at the Cambrai and Marcoing waste collection centers. “And why not, in the more or less near future, install them in the other recycling centers of the agglomeration?“, asks the director. A call heard by the president of the CAC, Nicolas Siegler, and his vice-president for household waste management strategy, Daniel Poteau, welcoming this request.

The interest is multiple and allows the Agglomeration Community of Cambrai to reduce its tonnage of waste. Guy Bricout, MP, went even further indicating that this idea could be transposed to other communities in Cambrésis.

Initiative hailed

Still, this creation was unanimously welcomed by the elected officials present, such as the mayor of Fontaine Notre Dame, Bruno Ivanec and Nicolas Siegler. The latter valuing the operation but also all the people who are part of it. To carry out this project, Emmaüs was able to count on the support of the city, the CAC but also the Department and the Region.
