Emmanuel Tjeknavorian is one of the most respected violinists of the younger generation. At the age of 27, the Vienna native can already look back on joint performances with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. But now the musician is shifting his focus from playing the violin to directing.

As the son of the Armenian composer and conductor Loris Tjeknavorian, he knows this profession from early childhood. This season, the Vienna Konzerthaus dedicates a complete portrait to the violinist and conductor Emmanuel Tjeknavorian. He will begin both functions on September 26th. together with the Wiener Symphoniker – and in the “Intermezzo” he tells the tragedy of Brahms, his “morbid” addiction to music and the threatening decline of the audience in concert halls.
