The atmosphere was very different for the LREM representatives from Gard, gathered at the Grand Café de la Bourse opposite the Arena. Satisfied, they remain nevertheless on restraint because of the score considered “high” of the candidate of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen. “Tonight is a great joy but not a total satisfaction. Some of our fellow citizens have decided to take refuge in a protest and extremist vote. This opens up a way for us to work and gather, ”says Olivier Lange, parliamentary attaché to LREM MP Françoise Dumas and departmental delegate for Territories of Progress. As for Catherine Roux-Daufès, LREM deputy for the 5th district in the Gard, she remains suspicious for the upcoming deadlines. “We will have to take into account all this anti-Macron movement and approach this new five-year term keeping in mind the big scores of Mr. Mélenchon and Mrs. Le Pen”, she notes.
“Thwarting the presidential majority in the legislative elections”
For the French Communist Party gathered at the bar Circle of the future, it is a “relief” that the extreme right does not seize power.
