It is David Yates, the man who directed the last four Potter films, who tells in the special that Watson (then sixteen years old) did not know whether she wanted to play in Order of the phoenix, the fifth film in the series. The pressure is enormous, when you’re starring in a franchise that is loved worldwide. In addition, she sometimes felt lonely on set.
“People forget what she took on. And how well she did that,” said Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) in the special. Moreover, that fifth film was shot at a pivotal moment in the lives of the young protagonists, who were starting to mature around that period. Everyone seemed to have doubts at times, but no one ever said it openly. “We dealt with that in our own way,” says Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley). “It didn’t occur to us that the others had similar feelings.”
But, as we know, all the actors stayed on board until the bitter end. “In the end, no one really had to convince me to stop,” Watson said. “The fans wanted us to succeed and they were all behind us. That was amazing.”
