Oscar winner Emma Stone and director Dave McCary tied the knot in 2020, and their daughter was born in 2021. Now the couple wants to make a film together for the first time.
Los Angeles (dpa) – Two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone (35) would like to work together on a film project with her husband Dave McCary. Stone could take on the lead role in an as-yet-untitled film for the Universal Pictures studio, which McCary (38) will direct, the US industry newspapers “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported on Friday (local time).
Shawn Levy (“Night at the Museum”) and his company 21 Laps are involved as producers. Stone and McCary also want to help with production through their company Fruit Tree.
Stone won another Oscar in March for her leading role in the grotesque comedy “Poor Things,” directed by Giorgos Lanthimos. She won her first leading actor Oscar in 2017 for “La La Land.” McCary is also a comedian and screenwriter. In 2017, he made his feature film directing debut with the comedy-drama “Brigsby Bear.”
At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Stone and director Giorgos Lanthimos are competing with their joint film “Kinds of Kindness”. At the end of February it became known that they wanted to tackle another feature film project.
Accordingly, Stone is to take on a role in a black comedy that Lanthimos is planning as a remake of the South Korean fantasy comedy “Save the Green Planet” (2003). Filming is scheduled to begin this summer.
