Emma Raducanu soars as comet on WTA ranking after US Open | US Open

Emma Raducanu battled through the qualifiers to the main draw of the US Open, but stunned everyone by eventually winning the final. It now also gives her 127 places in the WTA ranking.

Her 19-year-old opponent Leylah Fernandez, who just as surprisingly made the final at Flushing Meadows, moves up 45 places and is now 28th.

Australia’s Ashleigh Barty remains number 1 in the world ahead of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka. Naomi Osaka, who lost to Leylah Fernandez in the 3rd round, drops from 3 to 5.

Elise Mertens retains sixteenth place, but loses her number 1 in the double ranking to her Taiwanese partner Hsieh Su-wei. Alison Van Uytvanck remains the Belgian number two at number 57 (+4) followed by her friend Greet Minnen. It reached the third round in New York and jumped from 104 to 78, her highest ranking so far.

Lower in the ranking are Maryna Zanevska (104th, +9), Kirsten Flipkens (125th, -9) and Ysaline Bonaventure (131st, -2).
