Emma Raducanu calls Novak Djokovic tennis GOAT and names Roger Federer her personal favorite

British tennis star Emma Raducanu has called Novak Djokovic the greatest player of all time, but her favourite player remains Switzerland’s Roger Federer. The 21-year-old was once considered the next big thing when she won the US Open title in 2021 at the age of just 18.

The most impressive thing about this victory was that Raducanu entered the competition via the qualifying round, but still managed to go all the way and beat Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the final in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Raducanu, who is currently playing the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year in New York, recently appeared in a Sky Sports video where she spoke about who the greatest tennis player of all time is, among other things. She named Serbian Djokovic, but explained that her personal favorite is Swiss Federer. The former world number 10 also stated that she prefers playing at Wimbledon, while her favorite Grand Slam tournament is the US Open, where she won her first and so far only major title of her career.

“In my opinion, the GOAT of tennis is Novak Djokovic because of his pure, repeatable quality,” she said. “But I think my favorite is Roger Federer. In my opinion, Wimbledon is the best venue to play in. It’s my favorite tournament and the one I’d most like to win,” she said. “I would say my favorite major tournament is the US Open because I have so many special memories of that place and because it’s on my favorite surface, I love hard courts.”

Raducanu comes into the competition after her impressive performance at the Citi Open, where she lost to Spaniard Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals. She will face American Sofia Kenin in the first round of the 2024 US Open on Tuesday.
