The woman who one day managed to sensitize the most bloodthirsty drug lord of the 90s has been resurrected. After spending two and a half years in prison, the beauty of Emma Coronel, 35, has not abandoned her. The last words she pronounced during an interview on the Despierta América program have caused concern.
The former beauty queen broke her silence after almost a year on parole. In the conversation with María Antonieta Collins, Coronel spoke about her first job after leaving prison in September 2023. ‘I was hired to work as a model on a musical project for my friend (Mariel Colon).’
The song La Señora portrays the life of Emma Coronel, who in 2021 was sentenced to 36 months in prison for activities related to the Sinaloa Cartel, an organization founded by her husband, Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán. ‘I’ve always had the dream of being a model, so when they invited me I loved the idea,’ she said.
El Chapo’s wife said she will launch new businesses. ‘I am preparing things, but I can’t tell you about the process yet.’
Emma Coronel without El Chapo
In 2019, during the trial against Guzmán Loera, the former beauty queen, Emma Coronel, became the protagonist of the process.
The prosecution presented a series of messages intercepted by the FBI that opened the door to Coronel’s intimate life with the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
They detailed that Coronel helped El Chapo escape from the Altiplano prison in 2015. They also exposed the relationship between the boss and the former congresswoman, Lucero Sánchez.
The last time the former beauty queen saw her husband was at the end of the trial, when Guzman was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. El Chapo touched his heart and blew Coronel a kiss followed by an ‘I love you’.
‘Does love continue?’, asks María Antonieta Collins —Love will always continue, of course.
