Emma Coronel, wife of “El Chapo” Guzmán, is released from prison

Emma Coronel Aispuro, who came to light during the trial of her husband, the Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín Guzmán Loera, alias “El Chapo”, was released from prison. The woman regains her freedom at the end of her term at the halfway house for prisoners in Long Beach, California. She was transferred to that prison last June.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP, in English), September 13 is the scheduled release date for Coronel Aispuro, who finished serving her three-year sentence for helping the Sinaloa Cartel founded by her husband. at the RMM center in Long Beach, according to the institution’s page where he appears on the list of inmates.

Coronel Aispuro, 34, was arrested in Virginia in February 2021 and pleaded guilty to cooperating with the drug trafficking business of “El Chapo” – sentenced to life in prison in 2019 in the US – for the importation of cocaine. , heroin, marijuana and methamphetamine to this country and for money laundering.

The Mexican was serving her sentence in Texas until last June when she was transferred to the transition center where she left today.

The former beauty queen married the man who was the most wanted drug trafficker in the United States in 2007 and they are parents of twin girls.

According to the federal prosecutor’s office at that time, it was a minor sentence because his participation was “minimal” within the machinery of a large criminal organization.

Coronel Aispuro attracted the attention of the public and the media, as she attended her husband’s trial in New York every day.
