Mexico City, Aug 6 (EFE).- Emma Coronel, wife of famous Mexican drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera, alias “El Chapo,” made her debut as a model in a music video starring her husband’s former lawyer, Mariel Colón.
El Chapo’s wife gave an interview on Tuesday with María Antonieta Collins, from the program ‘Despierta América’, on the Univisión channel, in which she spoke about her first job since leaving prison in September of last year.
Coronel, who spent two and a half years in prison in the United States for activities related to her husband and the Sinaloa Cartel, said in the interview that she agreed to participate in the video because it was the song of a “friend,” the lawyer Mariel Colón, whom she knows from her time as her husband’s defender.
The song, titled ‘La Señora’ and performed by Colón, was written by Mario Delgado, known as ‘El Cachorro’, who had already composed corridos in honor of the Mexican drug trafficker.
“It touches me completely, it talks about me, about everything that has happened to me in life,” she said about the song that featured her participation as an actress.
In addition, with her contribution to the video, the Mexican says she has fulfilled her “dream of being a model,” something she has pursued since she was a child, in her own words.
During the interview, Coronel said she was still in love with El Chapo, whom she had not seen for more than seven years, since he was imprisoned in a maximum security prison in the United States.
“Love will always continue, of course, of course,” he stated firmly.
For the drug trafficker’s wife, the song has a purpose for the people who listen to it: “To realize that strong, bad things happen, but the past is already past. Don’t stay there. We have to move forward.”
Coronel said he had business plans in mind that he could not reveal yet because they were “not yet done,” but he completely ruled out the possibility of participating in a reality show.
“I would be locked up in a place for more than a week? Not for all the millions. It’s another prison, never (…) freedom is the most beautiful thing, the most precious thing you can have,” she said.
