This year’s pre-season has looked a little different for 35-year-old center back veteran Emma Berglund than in previous years.
— It has been a whirlwind time after we found out we were expecting a child. First having to realize that I won’t be out on the field this year was tough and at the same time trying to deal with everything that’s happening was surreal, but now that some time has passed I’m just happy and hopeful.
Emma therefore did not play the opener against Vittsjö but supported her team from the stands. How will it feel to watch your teammates from the sidelines this season?
— It will be special, of course. I will do everything I can from the sidelines in the form of support and input from the stands and at the same time try to be out there as much as I can in training. We have something really good going on this year so I want to be involved and contribute as much as possible.
Spruce:
Emma told me a few weeks ago and my first feeling and reaction was pure joy for Emma’s sake. It is a big change in her life and we as a club will be with her throughout the process. We will of course miss her on the pitch but I know that Emma will support us on the sidelines and be an important cog regardless.
We at FC Rosengård wish Emma the best of luck and will support her all the way!
