ABU DHABI, 9th August / WAM / Thirteen Emirati students, including 7 talented female students from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Higher Colleges of Technology, and Zayed University, have completed the external summer scholarship program in Japan for Emirati students, according to what was announced by the branch of the Japan Center for International Cooperation (JACE). In Abu Dhabi, noting that the students participating in the program received internships in 7 Japanese companies.
The training programs, coordinated by the Japan Center for International Cooperation, are designed to promote the development of promising Emirati talents in the fields of chemistry, electricity, mechanics, engineering, petroleum and renewable energy.
The program provided the participants with practical experience and research opportunities over the course of 8 weeks in advanced technology companies in Japan, and at the same time provided an important platform for them to learn about aspects of Japanese culture and attend Japanese language lessons.
The Japan Center for International Cooperation, under the auspices of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has been keen to implement the external summer scholarship program in Japan for Emirati university students since 2012. Since its inception, the program has hosted more than 100 Emirati students since its inception and until its twelfth year.
The program offered three types of internship experiences: full training in Japan, in the UAE, or a joint program of 4 weeks in Japan and 4 in the UAE.
Aisha Abdel Nasser Irfan Awad Al Kathiri, an Emirati student studying mechanical engineering at Kuwait University, said that she benefited from the training experience on both the personal and professional levels during her time with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, adding: “This training program was a unique experience that changed my life.” It helped me learn a lot of new things and develop my knowledge and skills both on a personal level and in terms of my career aspirations. Working alongside a diverse group of engineers at MHI, I gained a deeper understanding of different engineering roles, which allowed me to identify areas that really aligns with my interests.”
She added, “This training reinforced my strong inclination towards studying turbomachinery and related topics in fluid dynamics, and practical experiences and exposure to real-world applications assured me that it is the path I want to follow.”
Ahmed Abdullah Naimon, an electrical engineering student at the Higher Colleges of Technology, expressed his pride in his journey as an intern at GFE Corporation, one of the largest manufacturers in Japan, while he was in Fukuyama, located in the charming western region of Japan.
Ahmed said: “Whenever I think about my experience during the internship, I feel excited because it contributed to strengthening the relationship between Japan and the UAE, and I am sure that each country has something that the other does not have, and that working together fills gaps and builds opportunities. I am very excited about strengthening international relations and believe that it will create a future.” brighter and more positive impact on the global scene.
He added, “My training at GFE Corporation was a turning point, as it provided me with invaluable insights into the world of electrical engineering and allowed me to get intimate exposure to the work of the largest manufacturing companies in Japan.
For his part, Mr. Tokuya Kanamori, Managing Director of the Japan Center for International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi, praised the success of the training program, stressing that the brightest students in the UAE enhanced their technical and educational knowledge and were exposed to Japanese culture in some of the most prestigious Japanese companies.
He expressed his confidence that the trainees will apply what they have learned to contribute to promoting the renaissance and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates, and said that he is looking forward to further mutual development of human expertise and relations between the two countries.
