Why fly with Air Arabia?
Low-cost carrier Air Arabia is based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. It serves approximately 170 destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Asia with regular flights. The airline was founded in 2003. With approximately 60 aircraft, mostly of the Airbus A320 type, Air Arabia has a strong focus on providing economy flights.
The airline has won several awards for its commitment to affordable prices and superior service, including Skytrax’s “Best Low-Cost Carrier in the Middle East”. In addition to having codeshare agreements with many other airlines, it is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization.
What’s it like on board?
We were pleasantly surprised by this airline. Clean and tidy deck and friendly staff made the whole experience pleasant. The entire cabin is made up of economy class seats. But don’t worry, there is plenty of personal space. Although it is a low-cost flight, legroom and seat pitch are greater than most low-cost flights. The distance between the seats is up to 82 cm, which is comparable to the distance in economy class on board airplanes Qatar Airways!
The selection of food and drinks is really large and the prices are reasonable. You can even study the menu online before the trip.
The flight from Vienna to Sharjah takes approximately 6 hours. Don’t forget to pack your own laptop or iPad for the trip, you won’t find monitors on every seat. However, the airline has its own „entertainment service“. After taking off, just switch the device to flight mode, select SkyTime wifi and choose a movie, series or music from the menu.
Air Arabia is also prepared in case you forget your own headphones. They can be bought on board for two dollars.
Two destinations for the price of one
Sharjah is the third largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates, located near Dubai. A direct route from Vienna flies here 4 times a week and offers connections to many other connections around the world.
Sharjah Airport is suitable for stays in the emirate of Sharjah itself, but also in the surrounding emirates. The emirates of Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai, which are only a few dozen kilometers apart, are particularly popular. Thanks to very favorable prices, you can buy an exotic holiday at unbeatable prices. In addition, during a longer transfer, you can take a day trip to Sharjah or Dubai.
It is close to everywhere from Sharjah
It is the third largest emirate, has 1.1 million inhabitants and is adjacent to megalomaniac Dubai. This is how Sharjah (read Sharjah) can be characterized in a nutshell. Why is it worth flying there? A wonderful place awaits you, which has stood in the shadow of nearby Dubai for years. It is only a few minutes’ drive from Sharjah, and you can also visit the popular northernmost emirate of Ras al-Khaimah.
So let’s get closer to Sharjah. We won’t leave you in the dark, and we also include discount tickets, because it’s only a short distance from Sharjah airport to Dubai and Ras al-Khaimah. Plus we include tips on where to go for a drink.
Two coasts
While the other emirates have only one, the emirate of Sharjah is the only one with coastlines on both the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
Cultural center of the Arab world
The city of Shajrah is the capital of the Emirate of Sharjah and is extremely rich in visiting museums of various types. Popular ones include, for example, the Museum of Islamic Civilization, the Museum of Natural History and Botany, the Museum of Cultural Heritage, the Calligraphy Museum and many others. You can find up to twenty of them here!
Strict rules
They consider Sharjah to be the most conservative and strict emirate. The law determines what you can and cannot wear here and was adopted back in 2001. Since then, compliance with it has been very strictly controlled and applies to both locals and tourists.
In public, in public buildings, but also in shopping malls, men are prohibited from wearing short shorts and bare chest and shoulders. Women are prohibited from wearing clothing that exposes the shoulders, upper arms, stomach, back and knees. In addition, clothes that emphasize the figure too much are also prohibited. Those who don’t want to reveal themselves will surely like it here!
On the other hand, most hotel resorts apply an exception to the dress code – so you can dress however you feel comfortable on the hotel grounds.
Ideal conditions for water sports
Ideal conditions for water sports can be found in the Emirate of Sharjah. The coast is full of beautiful lagoons, bays, harbors with ideal winds for surfing, water skiing and other sports. Snorkeling and diving are extremely popular.
