Emirates risks not accepting Boeing aircraft if it does not meet the conditions

One of Boeing’s largest customers, Emirates Middle East Airlines, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the progress of the development of a new long-range aircraft from the American manufacturer. Airline boss Tim Clark has threatened the US manufacturer that if the 777X does not meet the parameters that Boeing has committed to in the order, Emirates will not take over the machines.

The airlines have not yet received any data on the performance of the aircraft’s power units, Clark said in a video interview at the Arabian Travel Market. This is despite the fact that the first test flights of the new machine took place last year.

Clark also noted that Boeing has often failed to deliver on its promises lately by announcing parameters for upcoming aircraft that it has not met. “We will not take over any aircraft that does not fully comply with the contract,” he said.

Agency Reuters Boeing asked for a response, but he did not answer her questions.

Emirates is one of the largest airlines in the world. The company ordered 126 Boeing 777X aircraft at a list price of over $ 50 billion. At the same time, it has ordered thirty smaller 787 Dreamliner long-range aircraft from Boeing. Currently, the airlines operate 140 Boeing 777-300 aircraft, which they want to gradually replace with the new 777X.

The development of the Boeing 777X is significantly delayed, due, among other things, to the fact that the company has had to focus its efforts over the past two years on resolving the crisis associated with the 737 MAX aircraft disasters. Originally, Emirates was the first customer to receive its first aircraft in July 2020, now Boeing expects to be commissioned by the end of 2023.

But Clark said in an interview that he expects to deliver the first aircraft in 2024. “The aircraft has various problems. It is not entirely clear to me when we will receive them, “he said.

Emirates is not complaining publicly about Boeing negotiations for the first time. As early as April, Clark said he should provide customers with more details about 777X performance and more accurately anticipate delivery times.

Restarting aviation seems slow and painful. Hope is summer and massive vaccinations
