WASHINGTON, 23rd December, 2020 (WAM) — The US Congress passed the $1.7 trillion federal budget bill today Friday.
And after the budget passed yesterday, Thursday, in the Senate, by 68 votes to 29, the House of Representatives approved the budget today, by 225 votes to 201.
The bill is expected to be referred to US President Joe Biden for his signing and publication into effect. “This bill is good for our economy, our competitiveness, and our people — and I will sign it as soon as it’s on my desk,” Biden said in a statement.
And the bill was approved a few hours before midnight on Friday-Saturday, and after that the work was concluded with the current budget. If this text had not been approved, funding would have been cut by the federal government and a large number of its institutions would have been in a state of “shutdown”, which would mean partial unemployment for hundreds of thousands of employees.
