Emirates News Agency – UAE receives ‘Academic Institutions Achievement Award’ from Association of Exploration Geophysicists for the Middle East

Al Ain, December 12, 2020, WAM, the University of the United Arab Emirates has received the “Academic Institution Contributions” award from the American Exploration Geophysicists Association for the Middle East, an American association specializing in geophysical exploration and its various applications.

The award ceremony was held in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia as part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the association’s Middle East branch in the region. The award was accepted by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad – Deputy for Scientific Research associate of Kenneth Tubman, President of the Association for the current 2022-2023 session.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Murad confirmed that this award represents one of the outcomes of the effective knowledge and educational role provided by the UAEU and reflects the great impact of scientific, educational and research contributions in various fields, which help to create distinct competitive opportunities by building specialized generations who possess future knowledge, tools and skills and contribute to development and construction. This award also strengthens the university’s position as the university of the future through the high quality of its educational and research outputs.

He stressed that the UAE, through its strategic partnership, emphasizes the importance of knowledge exchange for the benefit of all parties.

The Associate Deputy for Scientific Research explained that the UAE University’s research and technical contributions and support through scientific partnership with the Society in organizing the World Conference on Engineering Geophysics from the third session in 2015 until now , led to this conference being ranked among the top five international conferences in the last five years since the fourth session of the conference in 2017.

He added that the university’s contributions are diverse, including the participation of academics in scientific and advisory committees such as conferences, forums and workshops that have enabled the association’s Middle East office to continue communicating with institutions in the region by sharing the best experiences and knowledge.

Three faculty members of the UAE University Department of Earth Sciences were awarded: Prof. Dr. Haider Bakr and Dr. Khaled Saleh Al Balushi for their active role in volunteer committees, and Prof. Dr. Hakim Saibi for his leading role in scientific and academic committees.
