Emirates News Agency – UAE opens Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in Turkey’s Hatay Province

HATAY, TURKIYE, 19th February, 2023 (WAM) — The Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Field Hospital in Reyhanli district of Turkey’s Hatay province has started receiving the injured and those affected by the earthquake which has recently struck the country, as part of the operation “Knightly Knight 2”.

UAE Ambassador to Turkey Said Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri attended the inauguration of the hospital along with a number of Turkish officials and in the presence of Staff Brigadier Dr. Sarhan Al Neyadi , Commander of the UAE Ministry of Defense Medical Services Corps.

The hospital has a capacity of 200 beds in addition to 20 intensive care beds, two fully equipped operating rooms, two intensive care rooms, a laboratory and a pharmacy.

Ambassador Al Dhaheri claimed that the hospital was opened under the directives of the UAE leadership as part of Operation Chivalric Knight 2 aimed at relieving the suffering of those affected by the earthquake.

He said the hospital, which was built in record time, embodies the UAE’s approach and willingness to provide medical care to those affected by the earthquake, stressing that the UAE is coordinating with the relevant Turkish authorities to assess and identify the necessary needs for these people.

Brigadier Dr. Sarhan Al Neyadi said the hospital was established in just five days and armed with a group of Emirati professionals of all specializations.

”This is the second hospital the UAE has opened after the launch of the Emirates Relief Field Hospital in İslahiye district of Gaziantep on February 13 to provide basic emergency diagnostic and curative services to people affected by the earthquake, in addition to social and psychological support services.”

Pursuant to the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defense has launched Operation “Knightly Knight 2” to provide assistance to the people of Syria and Turkey.

The humanitarian and medical aid is part of the urgent response to mitigate the repercussions of the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey.
