ABU DHABI, 19th January / WAM / His Excellency Surangel Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau, discussed during his meeting in Abu Dhabi Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Head of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior … the repercussions of climate change on police work, and the urgent need for international cooperation In order to combat transnational crimes.
The meeting emphasized the important role played by INTERPOL in dealing with transnational crimes, and the modern and advanced technologies adopted by the organization to support member states around the world.
The two parties stressed the need for climate change to be at the forefront of all strategic talks related to law enforcement mechanisms and practices, and discussed the increasing pressures faced by police and emergency response teams, especially with the increase in natural disasters linked to climate change, and reviewed ways to secure and protect environmental resources.
For his part, His Excellency President Whipps Jr. highlighted climate change issues and their direct impact on island states such as Palau.
Major General Al Raisi and His Excellency President Whipps Jr. agreed to increase joint efforts to combat crimes that have become an increasing threat to the world today, such as environmental crimes and illegal trade.
