Today, the activities of the third meeting of female and male rangers kicked off under the slogan “The Ranger and the Challenges of Climate Change,” and it will continue until January 28.
This meeting is the first event of the Year of Sustainability of the Emirates Scout Association, which is organized in cooperation with the Sharjah Scout Commission, where the Scouts will stay in the Commission’s permanent scout camp for 3 days to discuss the challenges of climate change and the role of youth in them, and to review the most prominent efforts of scouts in sustainable development and how to strengthen those efforts to contribute to finding a role Active for university students in achieving the state’s vision in facing the challenges of climate change and the need for university touring to have a key role in the country’s hosting of the Climate Change Summit “COP 28”, which will be hosted by the Emirate of Dubai next November.
This year’s meeting of female and female Scouts is a continuation of the past three years, as the Sharjah Scout Commission is keen annually to host the activities of this important meeting, to be a platform for university students affiliated with the Scout movement “The female and male female Scouts” to think and work towards creating a better future in which young people contribute by being the makers of the future.
Major General Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Scouts Commission, confirmed that the commission seeks, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to prepare a generation of boys and youth aware of the issues adopted by the state and to work on preparing a set of programs that contribute to This preparation is for them to be in line to achieve the visions of our wise leadership. Since “sustainability” and confronting “climate change” are important issues that the state is working to promote, the association has made it a top priority to contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development, preserving the environment, limiting climate change, and finding a clear role for youth in these issues. This is done by involving young people of all ages in a campaign aimed at contributing to preserving the environment and making young people a key partner in projects related to sustainability because it reflects their future.
He added that this meeting aims to introduce the challenges of climate change and the role of youth in confronting them, and to contribute to achieving the association’s vision to achieve the goals of sustainable development, strengthening the framework programs for a better world, introducing the Climate Change Summit (Cop28) and the role of mobile phones in it, and developing mobile skills through targeted programs and activities that are commensurate with the specificity of the stage to meet their needs, raise their developmental competence, and strengthen their unity to work on building society, advancing it and preserving it, learning about its heritage, developing mobile activity in universities in the country, strengthening the bonds of friendship, friendship and brotherhood between them, developing projects and programs to preserve the environment, supporting recycling projects, developing the skills of mobile operators in teamwork and discipline, and providing an opportunity for universities New to form roving clans, develop membership, and achieve diversity and integration in the membership of the association and its commissions.
He pointed out that the camp program will include a variety of integrated programs to face the challenges of climate change, starting with an introductory session on the challenges of climate change and the role of youth in facing them, and another session entitled “Scout and Sustainable Development Goals”, in addition to afforestation at the headquarters of the Sharjah Scouts Commission for the Conservation of Wildlife and within the framework of seeking to find an active role. For youth in the face of climate change, an introductory workshop is presented at the op28 climate change summit, in addition to defining the framework programs for a better world and the goal of each of these programs, introducing youth opportunities at the Cop 28 climate summit, as well as organizing a visit to the Environment and Natural Reserves Authority in Sharjah and implementing many pioneering programs To recycle and reuse materials to achieve sustainable development.
