Emirates News Agency – The death toll from the earthquake in Syria and Turkey has risen to 4,365

Capitals, February 7, WAM/ The death toll from the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey yesterday, with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale, has risen to at least 4,365 dead, while the number of injured has reached about 19,365.

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said that the number of victims of the earthquake that struck the south of the country rose to 2,921, while the number of victims in Syria reached 1,444, according to the Syrian Ministry of Health and relief teams, which raises the total death toll in the two countries to 4,365.
Yesterday, Monday, an earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, followed by another earthquake measuring 7.6, leaving huge losses in lives and property in both countries.
The first earthquake occurred at a depth of about 17.9 km, and its epicenter was in the Pazardik region in Kahramanmaraş province, southeastern Turkey, 60 km from the Syrian border, according to the US Geological Survey.

Dozens of aftershocks followed, before the second earthquake struck southeastern Turkey, four kilometers from the city of Ikinosu.
