ABU DHABI, 22nd January / WAM / The “Memory of the Nation” platform, in which the Archive and the National Library participate in the Sheikh Zayed Festival 2023, celebrated a special corner on horses, in cooperation with the Emirates Arabian Horse Association, and in the context of the interest of the Archive and the National Library in horses.
The pictures and short documentaries on the platform reflect the interest of the honorable sheikhs of the Emirates in horses and equestrian sport, and the importance of the presented materials in strengthening the authentic identity in the hearts of the new generation, and encourages them to preserve their heritage as the main pillar in the process of civilizational construction.
“Memory of the Nation” presents a number of photos of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may God rest his soul – during the race of purebred and crossbred Arabian horses that was held on the new race track at the Equestrian Club in Abu Dhabi in 1995, and pictures while he attended – may God have mercy on him – the purebred Arabian horse race. Which was held in the racetrack in Abu Dhabi in March 1980.
The photos displayed on the platform also document the interest of UAE leaders in purebred horses and equestrian sports, led by the founder and builder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may God rest his soul – and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State – may God protect him – and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court.
The platform documented, in pictures and multimedia, aspects of the endurance giants’ races in Dubai International Endurance City in 2009, the His Highness the President’s Cup for Endurance in the fields of the Emirates International Village for Endurance in Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi in 2008 and 2014 AD, and the first riders of the will race for people with special needs for ability in Emirates International Capacity Village in 2008.
The platform’s holdings monitored the competitions of the Abu Dhabi International Championship for the beauty of Arabian horses in the show jumping field at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club in 2011 AD, and the Giants Challenge Cup for endurance in the World Endurance Field in Al Wathba in 2013 AD.
The platform also documented the delivery of a copy of the book (The Origins of Horses to the World Organization for Purebred Arabian Horses – Wahoo) in 1990, and the UAE’s participation in the (Wahoo) conference held in Morocco.
The “Memory of the Nation” platform’s interest in horses comes as a continuation of the efforts of the Archive and the National Library in supporting the International Festival of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan for Arabian Horses, which is a milestone in the advancement of Arabian horses, and an ambassador for the Emirates in cultural communication with other peoples, and his keenness to attend and be present in Heritage activities and events, and it is also a continuation of his efforts in his specialized publications, foremost of which is the Encyclopedia (Al-Adiyat), which is the largest Arab encyclopedia on horses; As it consists of five volumes containing more than a thousand pages, it discusses the lineages and descriptions of horses, their breeding and treatment, their temperaments and uses, their tools and flags of horses, and the related linguistic glossary.
