ABU DHABI, 1st January / WAM / Yesterday Sheikh Zayed Festival saw a massive crowds that surpassed the barrier of one million visitors, followers and festival-goers, who gathered at Al Wathba area, from inside and outside the country, to celebrate the welcoming of the new year 2023.
The various activities attracted visitors, especially the large fireworks and drone shows, where 4 records in the Guinness Book of Records were broken.
The squares of the festival were packed with crowds and the Al Wathba area was filled with followers and spectators of the drone and fireworks displays, which for the first time lasted for around 60 minutes, for the Guinness Book of Records to record this great result.
Amidst feelings of happiness and joy, the largest fireworks display and largest drone show lit up the sky of Al Wathba. The largest fireworks display, which lasted more than 40 minutes continuously and broke three records in the Guinness Book of Records in terms of quantity, time and form, won the admiration of visitors. In addition to the largest exhibition of “Drones”, using more than 3,000 drones, a message was drawn in the sky of Al Wathba, welcoming the new year at the end of his interesting show.
Al-Waleed Othman, arbiter of the Guinness Book of Records, confirmed that the Sheikh Zayed Festival managed to break 4 records simultaneously, including 3 related to fireworks and a new record related to “drones”, explaining that it was recorded most fireworks launched from helicopters in 30 seconds or more, most fireworks launched in 30 seconds (wheels), most repeated fireworks in 30 seconds, plus largest formation of a drone rapid response code.
Othman said: We are delighted to be present at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in the New Year celebrations, and extend our congratulations to the organizers of the festival, who used to break records every year to please the audience.
The festival audience wanted to document the wonderful moments of the various performances via their mobile phones and share them via social media. The stunning performances were also broadcast through the festival’s social media.
The Emirates Fountain and Laser Shows have won the admiration of festival-goers young and old with their dazzling musical and laser shows.
The Pavilions of World Civilizations have also set aside many international artistic and folkloric performances, transforming the festival into a global artistic carnival on the occasion of the New Year’s Eve, both by organizing concerts on the stages of the Pavilions of Civilizations and by participating in the march of world civilizations which have traveled all parts of the festival, presenting popular performances in traditional dress of the countries.
Visitors of the Sheikh Zayed Festival expressed their happiness with the international folklore and various art events and performances, including Heritage Village activities, Recreational Play Town, Children’s Town, Art Area, go-karts, Crazy Cars, the Garden of Lights and Flowers, as well as the Selfie Street area, the Museum of Sweets and many others.
