Emirates News Agency – Sharjah wins UAE Open Karate Championship “Kata”

SHARJAH, November 13, WAM, Sharjah Club crowned the UAE Open Karate Championship (Kata), which was hosted by the club’s gymnasium, with a large attendance of 298 male and female players representing 12 clubs in the country.

The Sharjah Club champions managed to sit at the top of the tournament dedicated to the buds and puppies categories, as the champions won 19 different medals in the two categories, including 13 gold medals, 3 silver medals and as many bronze medals .

The buds category alone (males and females) managed to win 11 gold medals and one silver, while the puppies category (A and B) won 8 medals, of which two gold and two silver, and 4 of bronze.

Ing. Suleiman Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, board member and chairman of individual games, congratulated the team for this achievement and stressed that the gains made from this tournament are great, especially since the tournament is for small groups, emphasizing that the players of the club have shown great challenge during the competitions amidst this large number of players and clubs participating in the tournament.

Al-Hajri explained that the club aims for first place in all of its participations, and this tournament is considered to bode well for future generations in karate, noting that the tournament has produced a number of promising players and talents who will have a great future in this game.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Sports Council for its continued support and interest in all things related to the individual games and the ambitious plans adopted by the Council to promote and develop them to go beyond the limits of local competition and compete externally for raise the flag of the Emirates.
