SHARJAH, 14th December, 2020 (WAM) — Today, Sharjah Institute for Heritage celebrated the 8th anniversary of its establishment, crowning its journey of heritage conservation and protection of various elements with many achievements and successes, both internal and external .
The ceremony, which was held at the Institute’s Center for International Organizations for Cultural Heritage, was attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of the Institute, and a group of guests and employees who expressed their their pride in what has been achieved and stressed the continuation of the effort in the spirit of a team in order to serve the heritage and its people in the community of the Emirate of Sharjah and all its regions.
His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam expressed his happiness with the successes achieved by the Institute in carrying out its lofty mission of preserving heritage as an authentic value, as it seeks to enhance the mobilization of capacities and resources in order to highlight and disseminate it the culture of heritage conservation among the members of society and to know the importance of linking man to his past with all its components and elements.
Notes that the Institute managed, in record time, to gain accreditation as a leading regional center for capacity building in the field of cultural heritage, to become a destination for students in the field of education and training through the academic path , which has contributed to graduating lots and training classes in this field, as well as its success in establishing a rich heritage library, specializing in over 500 titles in various fields of cultural heritage.
His Excellency emphasized that the Institute will continue to fulfill its mission, adopting new visions and innovative tools that draw inspiration from the past, keep pace with the present and anticipate the future with its wide doors and broad needs, indicating that the efforts of the Institute are in line with the directives and visions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in his commitment to preserve the heritage, at all times and under all circumstances.
He commended the efforts of the Institute’s working group in its various departments, in effective coordination and collaboration with government agencies of the emirate, institutions concerned with heritage conservation locally, in the Arab and global world, and with the rest of society.
During the ceremony, attendees enjoyed a visual presentation of the most important milestones of success and excellence in the Institute’s journey, the headlines in terms of events, festivals and activities it has adopted and implemented in recent years, as well as a list of memberships and active participation in international organizations and institutions with the aim of strengthening the partnership and the exchange of experiences and good practices in the field of conservation and conservation of tangible and intangible heritage.
The ceremony also included a musical performance directed by artist Azhar Kubba, Director of Artistic Heritage Department, with the participation of Emirati artist Mirza Al Mazmi, as well as the participation of the Fujairah Academy of Fine Arts with a distinguished artistic paragraph , while the newly established Popular Games House put on a great show that was well received by the audience.
