Muscat, September 21 / WAM / HE Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, stressed the importance of building a common parliamentary vision of the Gulf that strengthens the joint action process in the Gulf and looks forward to future perspectives that contribute to progress of our society and countries.
This took place in a speech delivered by His Excellency Hamad Ahmed Al Rahoumi, First Vice President of the Federal National Council, during his participation in the sixteenth ordinary meeting of Their Excellencies, Heads of the Shura, Representatives, National and National Councils in the Cooperation Council of the Gulf countries, hosted by the fraternal capital of Oman “Muscat”, chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, President of the Shura Council of Oman.
His Excellency said: Our meeting takes place in the light of major international events, where international and regional relations are complicated and where political affairs mix with economic affairs, as well as natural revolutions whose effects and results are beginning. to rage; As a result of the actions that people have taken that have led to such climate change, what we need today is to build a common Gulf parliamentary vision that improves the Gulf joint action process and awaits future perspectives that contribute to the advancement of the Gulf States. our societies and our countries, despite the great achievements achieved in the Gulf joint action system. However, our ambitions are growing for greater parliamentary coordination and cooperation, as it is an essential source of Gulf cooperation and joint development strategies.
He added: You might agree with me that building joint Gulf legislative frameworks, especially in economic and social affairs, has become an urgent matter and a necessary requirement to review the economic, social and international repercussions, especially after the traces of international relations between forces active in the international community warn of further potential dangers to international peace and stability and the economic and social crises that this has left, the effects of which could extend to all countries of the world, including our own countries and peoples of the Gulf.
His Excellency underlined the importance of the meetings to complete the previous constructive phases that took place in the process of parliamentary work in the Gulf, since it is necessary to understand the extent of the responsibility entrusted to the parliaments that represent our societies and our countries. In order to make a qualitative leap and translate the work objectives into parliamentary plans, programs and activities that keep pace with the needs and requirements of our countries and peoples, this will only happen through joint work programs and parliamentary projects of the Gulf that are studied and applicable in the field.
He said: We in the UAE, through the Federal National Council, will not hesitate to provide all support, aid and assistance to any joint Gulf effort in order to achieve sustainable development, hoped-for stability and progress. hoped for the future of our peoples in the Gulf, and to underline our firm position on the importance of joint solidarity between the Gulf and the Arab, and to support any effort to increase the cohesion of cooperation, and we hope that the next Arab summit in Algeria represents a real opportunity for strengthening action and for understanding and cooperation to prevail among the countries of our Arab world. His Excellency concluded the speech by saying: I ask God to help us and produce positive results that we will work to translate into a real reality for the benefit of our governments and our peoples; This will open wide horizons to enrich the Gulf cooperation process and will contribute to the development of this process and move it forward.

During the meeting, the heads of the Gulf legislative councils examined the annual report of the president of the fifteenth periodic meeting of their Excellencies, the heads of the legislative councils and their affiliated committees and the patronage of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
The items on the agenda on the Gulf-Europe Parliamentary Commission, common Gulf issues, cooperation with the parliaments of Latin American countries and a point for the presentation of the final recommendations of the joint Gulf seminars to the Supreme Council were also adopted. of the Cooperation Council for the Gulf Arab States.
On the issue of strengthening relations with regional and international parliaments and parliamentary unions, the presidents directed to instruct the Council of State of the Presidency, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, to ensure the continuity of mutual visits with the European Parliament, and coordinate a meeting between the councils of the Member States and the European Parliament via video call or on the sidelines of the IPU Interparliamentary Union meetings.
The presidents approved a proposal from the Federal National Council concerning the presentation of final recommendations at the joint Gulf seminars to the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States The framework of the work of the councils, in which the Shura Council of Oman carry out activities and events related to the matter in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
Their Excellencies were also informed about the results of the symposium on joint policies of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf for the implementation of the Green Middle East initiative in the face of the repercussions of climate change, and were invited to present the results. at the next session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
