Montevideo, 17 September / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, discussed with His Excellency Fernando Matos Costa, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, how to strengthen bilateral relations and the prospects for their development, in all fields, during his official visit currently at the head of a parliamentary delegation of the Federal Nationalist Council in the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Saeed Abdullah Saif Jawla Al Qamzi, the country’s non-resident ambassador to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay. The delegation of the Federal National Council, members of the Friendship Committee with the Group of Parliaments of Latin American Countries, also participated: Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, president of the group, and Saeed Rashid Al Abedi, vice president of the group, Maryam Majid bin Thaniah, member of the group, members of the Federal National Council, and HE Dr Omar Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Council, Afra Rashid Al Basti, Deputy Secretary General for Parliamentary Communication, and Tariq Ahmed Al Marzouqi, Secretary Deputy General for the Affairs of the Presidency of the Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture welcomed Saqr Ghobash and the delegation of the Federal National Council and expressed his joy for this visit, which will help strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields.
His Excellency said: “I congratulate you on the remarkable development that the UAE has achieved in all fields, especially agriculture, underlining the existence of great investment opportunities between the two countries in the agricultural sector”.
His Excellency accompanied the delegation of the Federal National Council on a tour inside the corridors of the exhibition. His Excellency Saqr Ghobash was briefed on a presentation that dealt with information on the agricultural sector in Uruguay and the opportunities for cooperation between the Republic of Uruguay and the United Arab Emirates in the agricultural sector.
For his part, HE Saqr Ghobash said: “We are very happy as we walk the corridors of the Expo Prado, which reflects, with the number of its visitors, exhibitors and various pavilions, the great step taken by the friendly Republic of Uruguay in the development of its agricultural sector and in the development of its livestock according to the best standards and advanced global technology, just as reflected in the exhibition which first began in 1883, the association of the agricultural sector with the history and heritage of the Uruguayan people .

His Excellency affirmed the UAE’s enthusiasm in strengthening cooperation in various fields of common interest and in discussing ways to develop them in all fields, updating them towards ever broader horizons and developing them to fulfill the interests and aspirations of the two. friendly countries and peoples.
He said the UAE pays close attention to the food safety dossier, noting that there are real and promising cooperation opportunities that can be invested between the two countries, particularly in the renewable energy and food safety sectors, noting that the The Corona pandemic has demonstrated the importance of food and medicine to the world, and we see that your country is a major source of food, and we can work together for the good of both countries and the world at large.
