ABU DHABI, November 24, WAM / The Emirates Safer Internet Association, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, is organizing the first international conference to discuss the protection and safety of children of Emirates from the dangers of using the Internet and smart devices under the slogan “Children’s Welfare in the Digital World.” On February 6, at the Anantara Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi Hotel.
Engineer Adel Al-Kaf Al-Hashemi, chairman of the conference, said during a press conference held today in the capital, Abu Dhabi.. that the conference sheds light on the goals of the Association and its efforts to protect children from harm of using the unsafe internet to explore a safe digital future and positive citizenship to improve the quality of digital safety for children, as well as discusses three main axes: the safety of children in the digital world and the well-being of children and families worldwide digital”, as well as “discuss the role of civil participation and partnerships in promoting digital well-being, with the aim of preparing a generation qualified to face the virtual world with responsibility and awareness.
Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Al-Mehyas, chairman of the board of the Association, said that our efforts to provide safe use of the internet for our children stem from the vision of our wise leadership to protect the Emirati people, an approach enshrined by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul”, who emphasized the need to prepare and build generations to be ready to receive the upcoming digital and technological developments, which is an approach pursued by our wise leadership.
Engineer Adel Al-Kaf Al-Hashemi, Vice-President of the Board of Directors and President of the Conference, said: “In the association we realize that children can be in danger due to some practices that threaten them, especially because there there are many sites that can negatively affect their psychological, physical and mental formation, and can push them to deviate from the noble goals for which they should live, as these children and teenagers are now digital citizens of the online world, and therefore they must realize the possibility of negative perceptions of technology and harmful activities”.
He revealed that the international conference, which will be held on February 6, 2023, will honor public and private schools and universities that have distinguished themselves in the field of using innovative technologies in the education system, preserving the security of the Internet, inviting all these institutions educational institutions to apply for this honor via the association’s website.
