MANAMA, November 12, 2020, WAM — Today, Bahraini voters went to the polls to elect members of the House of Representatives for the 6th legislature, as well as municipal councils, as parliamentary and municipal elections kick off in the Brotherly Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Executive Department statistics for the 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections, the total number of candidates on the final lists is 507. Voters choose 40 MPs to represent them in the House of Representatives and 30 members on city councils, while the electoral bloc total is about 344,713 voters.
The electoral bloc in Capital Governorate comprising 10 constituencies reached 66,148 voters, Muharraq Governorate comprising 8 constituencies 81,637 electors, North Governorate comprising 12 constituencies 121,581 electors, and South Governorate, comprising 12 constituencies, which encompasses 10 constituencies, 75,347 voters.
Elections in Bahrain enjoy full judicial oversight at all stages of the electoral process, from the electoral roll to the announcement of the final results, which embodies the integrity and transparency of the elections.
Voting and voting for the 2022 parliamentary elections in 37 different capitals and cities around the world took place on 8 November at the headquarters of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s diplomatic missions abroad.
Eleven civil society associations are participating in the national supervision of the 2022 parliamentary and municipal elections.
