Emirates News Agency – ‘NASA’ announces end of ‘Insight’ mission to Mars

WASHINGTON, December 22, WAM / The US space agency “NASA” has announced the end of the mission of the spacecraft “Insight”, after more than four years spent on the surface of Mars, due to its energy depletion.
And “Nasa” explained – in a statement – that the mission controllers were unable to contact the lander, after receiving the last signal from the vehicle on December 15, which led them to conclude that the batteries of the solar-powered spacecraft had Terminate.
It added that it will continue to attempt to receive any signals from the spacecraft, although further communications are considered unlikely.
NASA previously announced that the Insight team expected the lander to be “unusable” by December because its solar arrays produce less and less energy as it continues to accumulate dust.
InSight arrived on Mars in November 2018 to study seismic waves, which help scientists better understand how planets form.
