Doha, December 9, WAM / Morocco national soccer team manager Walid Regragui called on his players to achieve more and make history in the 2022 World Cup when they meet the Portuguese national team tomorrow, Saturday, in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Regragui has led his country to an unprecedented level of Moroccan and Arab football, after reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time, overtaking sides with vast experience and international reputations, the latter of which was the Spanish national team in the second round.
He said today in his team’s press conference: “Everyone thought they knew who would win the World Cup. We’re here too… Our players are as hungry as other teams’ players. We are not satisfied with what we presented till now.”
He believed that the crowd’s support for his team tomorrow would be very important, especially as the Portuguese national team also has big ambitions and a desire to make a difference and make history during this tournament.
Rekragui wanted Cristiano Ronaldo not to participate in the starting lineup of the Morocco national team, as happened in the team’s previous match against the Swiss national team in the second round of the tournament, even though the Portuguese national team decided the match in his favor with a big score of 6- 1, while Ronaldo only participated in the middle of the second half.
