SHARJAH, 9th December, 2020 (WAM) — The ‘Network of French Associations in Sharjah’ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the ‘Lycée Français International School Georges Pompidou’, in the presence of Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, Head of Government Relations Department in Sharjah, with the aim of establishing a framework of cooperation to achieve the common interests of the two parties represented in promoting cultural exchange and encouraging learning of the French language, as well as organizing various educational activities and events with a sustainable cultural impact on the local community.

The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, representing the “French League Network in Sharjah”, Natalie Kennedy, Consul General of the Republic of France in Dubai, and Bruno Aslin, Dean of the Lycée Français, at the Lycée Français International Georges Pompidou in Sharjah.

The memorandum of understanding between the two sides is an important step in Sharjah’s march towards building bridges of cooperation and understanding between the companies in various cities and countries around the world.

The Government Relations Department of the Emirate of Sharjah had announced the establishment of the “French League Network in Sharjah” in September this year, as it joined the French League network in the UAE through a agreement signed between the French Embassy and France League networks in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, at the headquarters of the French League.

According to the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate in organizing and coordinating various activities in support of the two cultures and Arabic and French languages ​​locally and internationally, and enrich the school with French books and modern educational tools, as well as support the efforts of the two sides to introduce the role that each of them plays in order to highlight their role in supporting their national identity and culture and achievements in the areas of science, technology, economic and social development.

Regarding the scale and implications of signing the memorandum of understanding, Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi said, “We are excited in the Department of Government Relations and the Emirate of Sharjah to strengthen the ties between us and the companies and cultures in various countries of the world, with the aim of exchanging experiences and skills that support our efforts towards development and sustainability and promote dialogue and understanding between different cultures, as an embodiment of our belief that the best experiences are those that they interact with and benefit from other people’s experiences and learn from their achievements and successes.

Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi added that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the “Network of French Associations in Sharjah” and Lycée Français International School Georges Pompidou will provide more opportunities to support the two cultures, Arabic and French language, and introduce the common human ties between the two peoples and that Arab culture has a great historical impact on international philosophy, science and the arts. French culture occupies an important place among the societies and peoples of the region, which have been influenced by writers , philosophers, artists and scientists, and we look forward to completing and developing this relationship between the two cultures”.

Commenting on the signing of the memorandum of understanding, Bruno Aslin, Dean of the Lycée Français, said: Arabic and French have always represented elements of constructive communication that have united the peoples of the two ancient civilizations, and this makes the joint collaboration with the “French Association Network in Sharjah” a leading link in a continuous chain of cultural cooperation, including It promotes the exchange of experience and dedicates the role of literature and the arts on both sides in creating an environment that brings together Arabs and Francophones in events and occasions through which ideas and cultures are exchanged, in a way that establishes human communication and highlights the aesthetics of limitless things that unite the civilizations and cultures of the world.
