Zurich, November 18, WAM/ The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) today announced the selection of Italian referee Daniele Orsato to officiate the opening match of the 2022 World Cup, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, between the Qatar and Ecuador national teams teams.
FIFA indicated on its website today that Orsato, 46, is one of Europe’s most experienced football referees, having been involved in match management since 2010.
Orsato was involved in match management of the 2018 World Cup in Russia as a video assistant referee.
