DUBAI, 3 October / WAM / The Ministry of Health and Prevention hosted the meeting of the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health in the country at its headquarters in Dubai with the aim of implementing the initiatives of the national mental health policy relating to the development and expansion of comprehensive and integrated mental health services and the consolidation of multi-sectoral cooperation between the authorities concerned, which contributes to strengthening the prevention of mental disorders in innovative ways, the use of information systems and the conduct of research to promote the integration of patients into society and improve their quality of life for the well-being of society.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Deputy Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector, President of the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health in the Country, and Dr. Lubna Al Shaali, Director of Policy Health and Legislation Department of the Ministry, Vice Chairman of the Committee, with the participation of representatives of health authorities and partners of the government and the private sector.
During the meeting, Al Rand reviewed what had been achieved in the field of mental health promotion, underlining the importance of the role of the committee and the vital tasks that fall on it, including a package of initiatives aimed at achieving a innovative, sustainable and scalable goal of mental health care model and definition of policies that lead to change according to a future vision that achieves the establishment of a healthier and happier society.
He stressed that mental health promotion is one of the government’s priorities and one of the most important strategic planning pathways, as the committee works in an integrated way to find mechanisms to ensure the achievement of the goals of the national mental health promotion policy in a so that it provides the highest quality of health services provided to members of society, be they preventive, curative or rehabilitative.
For her part, Dr. Lubna Al-Shaali, Director of the Department of Health Policies and Legislation of the Ministry, Vice-Chair of the Committee, explained that the meeting discussed the follow-up and evaluation of the implementation of the strategic plan of the policy for the promotion of mental health, underlining that the Committee is eager to ensure coordination between all the bodies and sectors concerned, which ensures the integration and unification of the efforts made in the field of mental health promotion in the country.
