DUBAI, 9th December, 2020 (WAM) — The Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention and Al Jalila Specialized Children’s Hospital have organized a panel discussion titled ‘The Future Happens Now: The Power of Youth in Advocacy and Development development of mental health”, as part of the activities of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health conference, which was launched in the Dubai Center.
The conference – held under the slogan ‘Child and adolescent mental health: Shaping the future’ – is the largest event of its kind in the world, worldwide to discuss the latest developments in child and adolescent mental health , which will enable advances in treatments that will help change the lives of many.
The youth club was attended by His Excellency Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, His Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, a number of youth council representatives in various government institutions and agencies, members of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, “Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi” and the organization “With Hope” and the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, Zayed University, Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Emirates Health Services Corporation.
The episode, moderated by Sheikha Al Shamsi, Acting Chair of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, shed light on the importance of mental health for young people in the UAE and its great impact on the individual and society , especially that the state pays great attention to the youth category in its health and psychological programs and works collaboratively with the community and relevant government agencies to implement comprehensive national policies and programs to improve society’s mental health. He also witnessed meaningful discussions on the most important mental health challenges for young people and their impact, as well as discussing solutions by young people to promote mental health.
The episode focused on delivering positive messages to young people who help strengthen their role in sustainable development by supporting their participation in the community and their ability to take responsibility to lead society into the future and contribute to its well-being and development in line with the future directions of the State and also touched on the importance of raising awareness of mental health related concepts among young people and opening wide horizons for them to learn about the latest developments in this field.
The current edition of the conference, organized every two years with the participation of thousands of mental health professionals from all over the world, is hosted by the Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, with the aim of shedding light on a variety of topics and review the latest discoveries and developments in this area.
