DUBAI, 9th December, 2019 (WAM) — The activities of the 8th Emirati International Neurosurgery Conference, which was held under the auspices of the Emirates Division of Neurosurgery, kicked off today in Dubai.

The three-day conference at the Raffles Dubai Hotel was opened by His Excellency Abdullah bin Souqat, Executive Director of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences.

The conference was held in collaboration with the Nepalese Neurological Society, the Nigerian Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the Ethiopian Society of Neurosurgery and the Gulf Neurological Society.

The event’s activities include the presentation of 165 scientific lectures covering many topics, including neurosurgery, cerebral hemorrhage, children’s brain surgery and skull fracture, with the participation of a group of the most important specialists in the field of neurosurgery from all over the world, in the presence of about 300 participants, as well as holding the first two workshops dealing with the topic of the three-dimensional microscope. The second concerns a robot that performs brain surgery on a three-dimensional model and discusses a large number of research articles .

Dr. Mohamed Sultan Al Olama, Head of the Emirates Division of Neurosurgery, said that the eighth edition of this year’s conference is titled “Bridging the Gap between Low-, Middle- and High-income Countries in Neurosurgery”, emphasizing the importance of meeting scientists and specialists from all over the world, sharing their various experiences and presenting the latest developments in neurosurgery The field of neurosurgery in the interest of countries in need.

He added that the conference aims to provide a global science platform including diverse experiences from around the world, which will enrich the information of all attendees, both in knowledge and professional experience, as Dubai is a center for the science movement in the world and meeting point between East and West in the field of scientific research.

For his part, His Excellency Abdullah bin Souqat praised the good initiative taken by the conference by attracting specialists in the field of brain and nerves from low, middle and high income countries with the aim of bridging the gap between different countries in this field and the exchange of experiences in one place, noting the importance of adopting this idea as a whole Conferences, events and parties in the future because of their good impact and so that the benefit spreads everywhere.

He added: “In light of the rapid and successive research and technological developments the world is witnessing, the importance of holding such events is increasing to exchange experiences, learn about the latest medical developments and strengthen efforts to advance medical tourism regional and global sector, so that the Emirate of Dubai is the global platform that brings together specialists from all over the world”.
