DUBAI, January 9, 2022 (WAM) – Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ) has launched today the “Talent Pass” license for self-employment.
This new license, which will be accessible to people from all over the world with particular skills and expertise, aims to attract talents and professionals from around the world in the fields of media, education, technology, art , marketing and consulting.
This initiative is expected to help boost the business environment of the free zone and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global destination for innovators and talent.
The Dubai Airport Free Zone, part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Culture and the General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) during a ceremony held at DAFZ to facilitate this new initiative.
DIEZ Executive Chairman Mohamed Al Zarooni, GDRFA Director General Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Director General Hala Badri attended the event. .
The MoU creates a framework for cooperation and coordination for the processing of licenses, visas and other services that help innovators establish, operate and grow their businesses in the emirate.
The MoU is part of Dubai’s Creative Economy Strategy launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
This strategy aims to double the contribution of the creative sector to Dubai’s GDP and increase the emirate’s ability to attract creative individuals, investors and entrepreneurs, as well as local, regional and international investments, which will help to strengthen Dubai’s position as the world capital of the creative economy and center of talent.
In accordance with the MoU, all parties will support efforts to attract talents from around the world to Dubai and promote the city as a center of creativity and innovation. DAFZ will undertake to assess and process “Talent Pass” requests and to issue licenses authorizing holders to carry out commercial activities in the free zone.
Dubai Culture will pledge to support the “cultural visa” for the holders of the applicable license and encourage talent to join the free zone and tap regional and global markets through outreach and communication programs.
GDRFA will also promote DAFZ as a preferred destination for global companies and the Emirate of Dubai as an enabling business environment that offers talented individuals the opportunity to expand their reach to a large consumer market. .
The “Talent Pass” allows its holder to obtain a three-year residence visa and to rent office space thanks to a wide range of modern office solutions provided by DAFZ. Desktop solutions are characterized by efficient support and flexible operating costs, as well as the ability to obtain services remotely.
Licensees will have access to DAFZ’s extensive customer network, which ranges from international companies to SMEs and entrepreneurs. They will also have access to the free zone digital platform which allows them to contact customers for easier access to work, contracts and services, giving them the opportunity to broaden their customer prospects. DAFZ is home to more than 1,800 companies in more than 20 vital economic sectors. Multinationals represent more than 30% of these companies, of which 31 are Fortune 500 companies.

The “Talent Pass” is part of a portfolio of six licenses offered by DAFZ, which includes the trade license for business activities such as import, export and re-export and the general trade license.
The portfolio also includes the industrial license for light manufacturing, packaging and assembly activities, the e-commerce license for the online trade of goods and services, the license issued in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, which allows companies registered in the free zone of Dubai airport to apply for the license of the department without the need for an office space to work outside the free zone and the license of services for a series of companies of services.
