DOHA, November 27 / WAM / The Croatian national team has rekindled their hopes of qualifying for the second round of the 2022 World Cup, after their big 4-1 victory over their Canadian counterpart today, Sunday, in the second round of their Group Six matches in the first round of the tournament.
The Croatian team, runners-up at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, brought 4 points in two games leading the group only on goal difference against their Moroccan counterpart, who today made a big surprise in the second match of the same group and beat the Belgian team 2-0.
The Canadian national team took the initiative to score in the net with an early goal from Alfonso Davies in the second minute of the match, but the Croatian side escaped the surprises of the ongoing World Cup and overturned their delay in a big victory, with a quadruple scored by Andrei Kramaric in the 36th and 70th minutes, Marco Levia in the 44th minute, and Lovro Meyer in the fourth minute of time instead lost against the match.
The matches of the third round of this group will decide the two qualifying cards for the second round (the round of 16 of the current World Cup), where the Croatian team (4 points) will meet the Belgian counterpart (3 points) in a match that Belgian team will have no choice but to win in which to adjust the qualification.
The Moroccan team (4 points) will also meet the Canadian team, eliminated from the competition for qualification after suffering two consecutive defeats and scoring no points in the group.
