Emirates news agency – Arab Federation for Libraries and Information Conference continues its activities in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 1 November / WAM / The National Archives and the Library continue to organize the 33rd Conference of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, which it is hosting in Abu Dhabi, for the second consecutive day. Held under the slogan “Integration of national information and knowledge institutions in the country: libraries, archives and museums”; The first day saw seven scientific sessions attended by around 60 researchers, experts and officials in the fields of libraries, archives and museums.
Regarding the activities of the 33rd conference, His Excellency Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil, Secretary General of the National Council for Culture of Kuwait, said: The Arab Federation for Libraries and Information Conference in the edition of this’ year is distinct and unique from previous sessions; It represents a specialized scientific, professional and cultural event, and its program is full of scientific and research articles, and there is a strong presence in it, led by the President of the World Federation of Libraries and Information Barbara Leeson, Her Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director General of the National Archives and Library, Dr. Hassan Al-Suraihi, President of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information, and Dr. Faisal Al-Tamimi Head of the Arab Regional Section of the International Council of the Archives.
It is worth mentioning that the first scientific session, moderated by Dr. Mohamed Fathi Abdel Hadi, discussed the following topics: linking ontology and its role in supporting systems integration, especially retrieval systems, the role the system in archiving Arab scientific content, the initiative to integrate libraries and the role of archives and museums in the unified Arab index, and the beating heart of libraries: empowering librarians with technology to carry out their service initiatives of the community.
The second session, moderated by Dr Issa Yousef, included a working document on “Cooperation Programs in the Information Sector Between Institutions in Oman: A Study on Motivating and Obstacles to Cooperation”. This happened.
In his research, “The Role of Information Institutions in Supporting and Achieving Kuwait’s Vision for National Development: A Field Study”, researcher Mubarak Saif Al-Hajri introduced the elements of development in Kuwaiti information institutions, the roles played by institutions of Kuwaiti information in supporting state programs for development and knowledge and the most important requirements for the success of national development support in Kuwaiti information institutions.
The first session also included a document entitled: “The Role of Information Institutions in Supporting Implementation of the 10th Five Year Development (2025-2021) in the Sultanate of Oman: The National Center for Statistics and Information as a Model” .
In the third scientific session, moderated by Dr. Rebhi Alyan, the paper by Dr. Abdel Razzaq Moghadmi on “Digital archiving at the service of scientific research: a case study of scientific and research documents for the Technological Pole of Bordj Cedria in Tunisia “He highlighted the contribution of digital archiving in enhancing scientific research through the organization, classification and conservation of” archives of science and research “, which represent an essential pillar in the development of scientific research and innovation in all fields.
The session also included a paper entitled: “The digitization of Italian newspapers issued in Egypt in the period 1845-1940: strategies for control, conservation and access”.
The session was also attended by a research on “Activating the Role of Digital Technologies for Preserving National Heritage and Intellectual Production in the Kuwait National Library.” The study object of the working document entitled: “Systems for Managing and Making Digital Content Available for National Libraries, Archives and Museums” recommended improving the availability of digital content between systems, so that it is not incompatible with the privacy of the country interested.
In the fourth scientific session moderated by His Excellency Kamel Al-Abd Al-Jalil, the following documents were discussed: “The Role of Arab Libraries Departments in Supporting the Integration of National Museums with Information Institutions in the Future: A Study to Develop a Curriculum for the Department of Libraries and Information of the University of Alexandria “, and” Cooperative networks between libraries of national institutes “For higher paramedical training in eastern Algeria: the elements of the construction and implementation challenges and” National libraries and their role towards achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: National Libraries in the Arab Gulf Countries as a Model ”and“ the impact of user behavior and research needs on the design of information sites of national libraries ”.
The fifth scientific session, moderated by Dr. Amani Al-Salami, discussed the following topics: “National Libraries in Times of Crisis: A Case Study of the Palestinian National Library”, “National Archives Services and Marketing Mechanisms: the National Center for Documents and Archives as a model “and” The role of national archives, document centers and museums in Sudan in The shadow of intelligent technologies (future vision), and the latest research concerns “the impact of Saudi information institutions in building a culture of support of Vision 2030 and the achievement of national development ”.
In the sixth scientific session the following research was discussed: “The National Information Policy: The National Information System in Libya”, “The Role of the Documentation and Information Technology Authority – the National Research Center in support and development plans for development and research projects in Sudan “and” The reality of measuring the application of the management specification “. Knowledge of ISO 30401 in charities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: a case study and” The role of e-governance in achieving integration between national information Institutions: Libraries, Museums and Archives “.
As for the seventh scientific session, moderated by Dr. Faten Bamfleh, which is the last session on the first day; It contained the following research papers: “Knowledge of workers in archives and document centers in Saudi government agencies with emerging technologies: a descriptive study”, “Cloud computing and records managers’ awareness of its applications in document management in the Sultanate of Oman “, and the challenges of the Sudanese National Library towards digital transformation and the adoption of a knowledge economy.” The readiness of national information and knowledge institutions to adopt emerging technologies in the provision of information: the library of the National Public Museum.
The conference was accompanied by an exhibition attended by important cultural institutions, such as: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the King Abdul Aziz Public Library, the National Documentation and Archives Center, Naseej and Al Zad, Al Mandama, Clarivate and other.
