Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Development Fund finances modern water systems and facilities in Argentina, worth AED105.8 million

ABU DHABI, 24th November, 2020 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Development Fund has signed an agreement with the Government of Argentina to finance a project to build modern water systems worth AED105.8 million, equivalent to (US $28.8 million The agreement aims to establish integrated water stations operating with advanced systems and technologies, and contribute The agreement covers the rehabilitation and expansion of existing water stations in 26 villages in the Argentine province of Cordoba.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, and by the Argentine government, His Excellency Juan Sciaretti, Governor of the State of Cordoba. His Excellency Saeed Abdullah Saif Joula Al Qamzi, UAE Ambassador to Argentina, and a number of officials from both sides.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi said, “We are keen to strengthen our strategic relations with partner countries and support them in implementing their development programs which are in line with the Fund’s vision to achieve economic and social development for companies in developing countries. The agreement embodies the Fund’s interest in supporting strategic projects within sectors.” Vital energy, which in turn contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing that the fund will work with the Government of Argentina to achieve the desired objectives of this agreement and the advancement of this main sector by contributing to the development and increase of the efficiency of existing water systems and networks and to the creation of modern stations that support the supply and sustainability of water, including the different needs of the population.

For his part, His Excellency Juan Sciaretti expressed his thanks and appreciation to the UAE and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for their pioneering role and efforts in promoting the global economic development process for various countries of the world, as the Fund effectively contributes to support the Argentine government’s priority development projects, emphasizing that this agreement will contribute to the achievement of our national goals by developing water resource systems and modernizing their networks and equipping densely populated areas with water stations that operate according to advanced technologies that contribute to the supply of water in a safe and sustainable way”.

It is worth noting that the funded project includes the provision of reliable supplies that sustainably transport and distribute drinking water to the population, with a total length of water transmission lines of 255 km, as well as the construction of 14 new stations in specifications for pumping and purification of water, and interventions for the efficiency of existing stations to increase their production capacity, as well as carrying out the service and consultancy activities necessary for the realization of the project, and providing studies relating to environmental impact issues.

Interestingly, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has started its development activities in Argentina since 2016, when the fund financed the Nihavi hydroelectric power project with a value of 55 million dirhams and the grid development project water projects in the province of Santa Fe with a value of 294 million dirhams, as these strategic projects have been reflected in making a qualitative leap that has helped to advance the economic and social development of Argentina.
