ABU DHABI, 29th December, 2019 (WAM) — Abu Dhabi Cycling Club will launch a project to develop and secure a bicycle lane in Al Bateen area of Al Ain, which is 23 kilometers long, on January 13, to a total cost of 8 million dirhams.
The project is part of the efforts of the concerned authorities in Abu Dhabi to promote a healthy lifestyle for all members of society in the UAE.
Al-Nakhira Al-Khaili, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, explained that preparations are currently underway to complete the project according to the specified timetable, in order to contribute to the growth and development process in the UAE by focusing on the related aspects improve the quality of life and motivate community members to adopt a healthy and energetic lifestyle.
He pointed out that the project is one of the important achievements of Al Ain city in the areas of urban and urban development and infrastructure development.
He added that the project represents a positive and strong start to the year 2023, and translates the directives of wise leadership, with the need to carry out ambitious projects and launch distinctive initiatives, providing places that help encourage residents to play sports in general and the cycling hobby in particular, taking into account that the infrastructure is in residential areas. Adjacent to the track it encourages and facilitates the access of residents to practice this sport for its many health benefits.
He stressed that the Al Ain municipality, which is in charge of the implementation of the project, has taken into account, in carrying out the operations of modification and correction of the tracks, applying the best international standards and technical specifications, in line with the nature of the areas covered by the tracks and their traffic, as well as providing all means of safety and security for bicycle users.
He pointed out that the platforms were equipped with eagle eye cameras and surveillance cameras operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Al-Nakhira Al-Khaili said, The project to develop the bicycle lane in Al-Ain is a qualitative addition to the package of infrastructure projects implemented by the Government of Abu Dhabi, to encourage sports and recreation activities to improve the quality of life in the emirate and to facilitate access between development projects and attractions.
He added that the track serves many vital areas spanning Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Street in Al Ain, including Al Bateen, Al Khabisi, Al Markhaniya, Al Tawiya, Al Jimi, Al Dahmaa and Al Salamat, and the public can benefit of the package of other service facilities the club is working to provide in the coming period.
Al-Khaili explained that the project is part of a comprehensive plan approved by the concerned authorities and the Department of Municipalities and Transport for the development of cycle paths and aims to connect all vital areas of the city with an integrated system of cycle paths that meet the needs of all practitioners of this sport.
