The week’s activities helped raise awareness of the importance of engaging stakeholders in the business sector’s sustainability journey, which in turn leads to an improved business environment in Dubai. The week’s activities included a series of panel discussions and dialogue sessions that provided valuable and informed insights into stakeholder management techniques and strategies, as well as examining available solutions to achieve sustainability goals.

This year’s Sustainability Week exhibition focused on local sustainable initiatives and businesses, thus providing an excellent platform to support sustainable supplier stakeholder interaction.

Sustainability Week also saw the launch of a campaign with the slogan ‘Let’s unite our efforts to improve the engagement and interaction of stakeholders in sustainability’. This campaign included more than 177 projects, activities and events that focused entirely on stakeholder engagement in sustainability, and saw large participation from local businesses, and the results of the campaign were revealed during the closing ceremony.

Dr Kamal Malahi, Senior Director of the Center for Business Ethics at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, said the strong attendance at Sustainability Week 2022 reflects the engagement of participating sustainability leaders from the Dubai business community and beyond; They provided crucial insights into what can be done to support stakeholder engagement in the sustainability journey and thereby improve business practices in Dubai.

In this context, Dr. Malahi added, “The week’s activities achieved their goals by raising stakeholder awareness of the benefits of setting your own priorities and encouraging institutions to take practical steps that improve their progress in the field of sustainability.”

The UAE has made great strides in the fields of sustainability, carbon neutrality and environmental conservation by launching a number of ambitious initiatives. As the host country of next year’s Conference of the Parties (COP 28), the UAE has a unique opportunity to consolidate its leading position in the field of climate action.

With the country’s focus on the environment at the top of its ambitious economic development agenda, the government and private sector have an opportunity to cooperate and strengthen their partnerships to achieve sustainability and carbon neutrality goals.
